There are are a total of four variations: two for the three hands model and two for the GMT. The three hander is available in either pearl-blasted 316L Stainless steel or bronze. The GMT version is available in either black PVD or bronze. Both GMT models boast ceramic bezel inserts, black and brown respectively.
Technical Features of VDB 2013 collection include: a highly domed Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, a uni-directional rotational divers bezel, signed-engraved screwdown crown and caseback and 500 meters of water-resistance. The hands and dial markers are have been applied with vintage-style SuperLuminova in either orange or green.
The watches measure 45mm x 54mm x 19.5mm. They will come on VDB rubber straps attached to the case via screwed lug bars.
The watch has a lovely sculpted case that slopes down at the front, back and sides. It has VDB's distinct vintage military-esque hallmark, although I couldn't couldn't really pin-point any specific design influences other than - say the Benrus Type I, which has the same characteristic lopsided right lateral case side that made it such an icon.
There are plenty of other ascetically pleasing features: the highly domed Sapphire crystal, the oversized crown and wide 12 sided bezel with its ever so slightly scolloped sides and Italian style bezel studs. But what I really appreciate about the new VDB 2013 is that it manages to encapsulate the essence of vintage-mil without being too derivative and whilst maintaining VDB's own familiar identity.
