By TLex Introducing the new 'GLADIATOR MARIS', the latest divers model from Milan, Italy based, CAVENAGO. A tough name for a tough looking, no-nonsense dive watch! As is typical of Cavenago's divers models the watch is vintage military inspired and as such has sober yet functional design.
The Stainless steel watch case, which measures 44mm in diameter is somewhat derivative of a vintage Benrus diver with its specially designed (for deflecting unwanted blows against an otherwise vulnerable crown) crown guard, which gives the watch its unique shape.
Diving features of the Gladiator Maris include: a water-resistance of 500m / 50atm, a screwdown crown and solid steel caseback and uni-directional rotational divers bezel with an elapsed dive time scale (increments of 5min) and a flat Sapphire crystal.
The crown is signed with Cavenago logo as well as the caseback, which is also engraved with its unique # / just 100 pieces built per year. The dial is clean and simple. Its black and white color contrast, the oversized sword hands and bold square hour markers have been designed for optimum readability of the time.
SuperLuminova has been applied to the hands, indexes and bezel. These are available in three colors: white, green or red. The watch is powered by the ubiquitous work-horse that is the Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement. It is presented on a steel vintage-style 'Milanese' mesh bracelet with a divers buckle, that can be extended to fit over a divers wetsuit.
