ULYSSE NARDIN Marine Chronometer MANUFACTURE

By TLex I hope you don’t mind me sneaking a non-diver up, today, but these are such beautiful watches and like most models from UN they are evocative of the ocean. They’re also powered by a hi-tech in-house caliber – nuff said!

The new Marine Chronometer Manufacture from Ulysse Nardin has a 43mm case in either Stainless steel or 18kt Rose gold. They are fitted with AR-coated Sapphire crystals and have a water-resistance of 100 meters.

Special features include a Sapphire crystal exhibition caseback with views overlooking the UN118 with its DIAMonSIL escapement and a silicon 1.1.1 balance spring, which are both made entirely in-house.

DIAMonSIL is nano-technological (fancy word) alloy that combines a synthetic diamond coating with silicone. Its ultra light weight eliminates friction, consequently doing away with the need for any lubrication – much like Omega’s Si14 technology (I assume – I’m not much of a movement geek) ;)

Spec. of the UN118 includes: 50 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 60 hours. It comes with a special Ulysse Nardin Certificate, based on C.O.S.C.

C.O.S.C only tests the performance of the movement, but the UN Certificate goes beyond that by rigorously checking the quality and craftsmanship of the watch as a whole.

The dial comes with either: Arabic numerals in black, blue or silver or with Roman numerals in black or white enamel. The watches are presented on either an alligator strap or rubber divers strap, or with s Stainless steel or 18kt gold bracelet.

Liked this? Then you'll probably like the 2013 MONACO Limited Edition . . .
