H2O Orca Vintage BLACK

By TLex The Orca Vintage Black from H2O Watches boasts an all over black DLC treatment. Both inner and outer cases as well as its exhibition case back and case components - such as, the crown and bezel have been coated with one of the toughest and darkest black DLC coatings available today.

Under the hood of this jet black, 2000m water-resistant diver is a Swiss made ETA 2824 caliber with a custom black DLC rotor to match the dark finish of its case. Above that, a glossy black dial with a contrasting chromed handset, and above that a 4mm high, Super Dome Sapphire crystal.

The Orca Vintage Black comes with the option of a DLC coated bracelet with a micro adjustment divers clasp. The bracelet's two central links have been polished to compliment the watch's polished case sides. It is supplied with a black hand-stitched Horween leather strap with a DLC coated Orca CNC buckle.

The super tough, black DLC coating was done in Germany and is of an exceptional quality. It makes this one of the most desirable Orca series watches to date. So many eye-catching details, but what I like most about it is the continuity of design. From the black DLC coated case to its custom DLC rotor and buckle, and from the polished case sides to the polished center links of its bracelet - stunning!

The Orca Vintage Black is available now from H2O Watches. Follow the link HERE further more details . . .

ROMAIN JEROME Sailor's GRAVE [Tattoo-DNA]

By TLex I know this one's a little bit out there, and isn't really a diver, but it might work as talisman to prevent you from falling into a watery grave! It might also make a suitable piece for your weekend wrist-attire ;)

RJ have joined forces with world renowned tattooist, Mo Coppoletta to pay tribute to the art of tattooing and to maritime legends with their first series of Tattoo-DNA watches called the Sailor’s Grave.

The watches will come in a 25 piece limited series of each version. They feature a 50mm, 30m water-resistant steel or black PVD coated steel cases with black PVD coated and engraved bezels. The signature RJ bezel paws are in steel or black PVD coated steel.

The various stamped, engraved and decorated elements of the dial depict a scene in which the elements are unleashed upon a stricken ship. According to maritime superstitions, the anchor can ward off bad luck and protect a ship that is caught up in a storm. The bolts of lightning flashing across the sky are in red or yellow according to the versions. They are applied with SuperLuminova.

Watches of the RJ Tattoo-DNA collection are presented on black fabric straps or skin-colored leather straps that have been personally tattooed by Mo Coppoletta himself – very cool!

Carl F. BUCHERER Patravi SCUBATEC

By TLex Carl F. Bucherer have released their first ever contemporary divers watch, the Patravi ScubaTec, which joins other models of the Patravi collection. The ScubaTec by all accounts is a nice functional and sporty looking diver with some cool eye catching details; evocative of the ocean and endowed with all the features that one would expect to find on a modern high-end divers watch . . .

Its 44.6mm (diameter) x 13.45mm (height) Stainless steel case is water-resistant to 500 meters. It is fitted with a unidirectional rotational divers bezel with a black and blue ceramic inlay with its elapsed dive-time scale marked out in bold silver numerals. The shade of blue used for the bezel and the notch on the screwdown crown was exclusively created for Carl F. Bucherer. The case is fitted with an almost 4mm thick Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides as well as an automatic HEV (Helium escape valve) making it suitable for SAT diving.

Its generously proportioned black dial offers fast and accurate reading of the time. Its hands and markers have been coated with BG W9 SuperLumiNova that glows light blue in the dark. Beneath the dial of the ScubaTec beats a CFB 1950.1 caliber, automatic C.O.S.C. certified chronometer with 26 jewels and a power reserve of 38 hours.

The caseback is engraved with a 3D effect design depicting two Batoid rays in relief. The watch comes with either a black rubber divers strap with blue detailing or an integrated steel bracelet with an adjustable divers extension so that the Patravi ScubaTec can be worn over a divers wetsuit. MSRP is circa 7000USD

Girard-Perregaux Sea HAWK Mission of Mermaids GREEN

By TLex Girard-Perregaux have created a 2nd MOM special edition Sea Hawk – this time with some striking green details. The first MOM Sea Hawk was a little confused looking with its use of color, but this one is a lot more confident.

Designed in collaboration with Susan Rockefeller and named 'Mission of Mermaids' after Susan's most recent documentary, the Sea Hawk ‘MOM’ is based on GP’s latest Sea HAWK 100m divers watch.

Special features of the Sea Hawk ‘MOM’ include: a black honey-comb dial with an emerald green; chapter ring, power reserve indication and pointer, sub-seconds hand and prominent minute hand. The sub-dial is with mermaid motif.

The caseback features a green enamel mermaid motif with ‘mission of mermaids’ text (also in green) above it. The caseback is engraved with the MOM motto, ‘protect what is precious’.

I’m not a massive fan of green on dive watches to be honest, but this is really nice. And if that mermaid was a shamrock it would surely go down a storm in the emerald isle!

AEVIG Huldra

By TLex Introducing Aevig, a charming new start up watch brand based in Schiedam in the Netherlands. The name Aevig comes from ancient Norse and means eternal. Their first model, a handsome retro styled diver, the Huldra is named after a Scandinavian water nymph.

Its design, a harmonious blend of modern and vintage elements. A classic cushion case, a domed crystal and a clean, well balanced dial that reinterprets Tudor's snowflake dial whilst cleverly incorporating the company logo into its design. The hands perhaps with a hint of AP's ROO Diver? I particularly like the pairing of midnight blue with beige - just beautiful!

Specifications include: a 42mm x 46mm Stainless steel case, a domed Sapphire crystal, 200 meters of water-resistance, Swiss C3 SuperLuminova (custom tint) and a Japanese made Miyota 9015 automatic claiber. The watch comes with a NATO with a signed buckle plus a 22mm bracelet with solid end links and 'Super Jubilee' 22-18mm, flip lock clasp with a 5 hole micro adjustment.

The Huldra is priced 450USD ex VAT (outside EU), €399 inc VAT (EU). Stay tuned for the prototype unveiling. Follow the link below to find out more about the Huldra and other collections from Aevig . . .
