NITE Aqua AQ SERIES

By TLex Introducing Nite Watches diver, the AQUA, a model of the British (based in the South of England) company's line up of outdoors, military and divers watches, designed to perform equally well in or out of the water.

Its Stainless steel case has been finished in gun metal PVD. It measures 42mm (diameter) x 14.8mm (thick) and is fitted with a Sapphire crystal with triple anti-reflective treatment (that's a first form me!).

Further divers' features of the Aqua include: a screwdown crown, a uni-directional rotational divers bezel with an elapsed dive time scale and a depth rating 300m.

The Aqua's gun metal PVD case and matching bracelet combined with its 28mm pure white dial, charcoal markings and bright orange minute hand to create a highly contrasting design that should offer excellent legibility of the time.

For night time reading the Aqua boasts a Swiss made self powered GTLS illumination system. The GTLS (tubes) have been used on the hands, dial and divers bezel. The Aqua is powered by a Swiss made Quartz Ronda 715Li caliber with a 10 year battery.

The Aqua comes in three bracelet / strap configurations: the AQ1 with its gun metal PVD bracelet, the AQ2 with its white polymer strap and the AQ2-G with its graphite polymer strap.

ORIS ProDiver DATE in F&F 6

By TLex More (dive watch) product placement in the latest FF movie. We know that Paul Walker wore a JLC Deep Sea CHRONO in Fast & Furious 6.

But had anyone noticed that Dwayne Johnson AKA The Rock was sporting an Oris ProDiver Date in the same film? Here's a pic (not a very good one) of him wearing the 49mm Oris diver . . .

OMEGA Seamaster 120 GREEN 66

By TLex I couldn’t resist posting this. The Seamaster 120 was a model from Omega’s Professional line of watches that included the iconic Seamaster 300. It was designed as working instrument to be used in activities such as diving. The Seamaster 120, launched in 1966, was a popular choice for diving enthusiasts. Its barrel-shaped case was water-resistant to 120 meters.

The Seamaster 120 came with a classic black dial with a black rotating bezel, a black dial with an orange rotating bezel, a burgundy-colored dial with a matching rotating bezel and, as shown here a version with a green dial and bezel. Here’s to a revival of Omega’s color palette of that era! ;)

HELSON Gauge BRONZE coming soon

By TLex Here's a teaser shot of the new Gauge Bronze from Helson with its hand-cut domed Sapphire crystal and olive green dial. The latest Guage model joins a family of 5 others and true to form it brings something a little different to the table.

Firstly its bronze case is fitted with a crown at 4 o'clock (some gauge models had either integrated crowns that fitted flush against their case sides - others (the 1000M) with a crown at 6 o'clock. Also the Bronze Gauge does not have a separate bezel, either fixed or operable, which gives it a beautiful clean appearance!

HELBERG CH1 STEEL

By TLex Lest we forget the virtues of a beautifully brushed steel case - here is a closer look at the devastatingly good looking DSS inspired, HELBERG CH1!

Shown here, the CH1 is fitted with a standard divers bezel with its elapsed dive time scale in SL. There is an option for a sterile bezel with only the 12hr marker.

This is the first time that we are able to see the (tamer) 7mm high domed Sapphire crystal and the standard CH1 silver watch dial. A gold accented dial is also available.

The 15mm high spherical crystal was so high that it caused a too much distortion, a 2nd dial had to specially designed to counteract the distortion

- however a certain (desirable) amount of distortion will remain so that the watch retains much of the charm of the original dial, which warped under its massive glass.

Finally the watch is presented on a brushed steel 22mm, three link, non-tapering bracelet with an H2O micro adjustment clasp. Stay tuned for more soon . . .

SEA-GOD 'DeepAbyss' 5000m PROTOTYPE

By TLex SEA-GOD have revealed details and renders of a new 5000 meter prototype diver. The aptly named Sea-God ''DeepAbyss'' has a 48mm case. Surprisingly the crystal appears to be flat rather than a domed, which is preferred for models with a higher WR as a its shape helps to resist and redistribute pressure more evenly. Otherwise the watch looks to be a beefed up version of their regular 300m model.

By all accounts Sea-God watches are nicely made divers using modern Swiss manufacturing techniques and incorporating current materials such as; ceramic, Titanium and DLC coatings. The watches use a fairly generic looking case and dial design, which is fine. However unfortunately they have been enhanced embellished with more text than the 'dead sea scrolls' making them look a lot cheaper than they actually are - a pity! :(
