From BREITLING Among the many exceptional squads that are associated with Breitling, the Frecce Tricolori – the Italian airforce aerobatics team – holds a place of its own. In 1983, the brand with the winged B was chosen by the "tricolor arrows" to design their official watch. In doing so, Breitling worked closely with pilots in order to create an authentic aviation chronograph. A year later, in 1984, it was based on this ultra-functional, original and elegant watch, that the brand launched its famous Chronomat – that has since become its star model and was recently reinterpreted. Almost 30 years later, Breitling is perpetuating these ties by creating for the Frecce Tricolori a special version of the Chronomat 44 customized in the team colors. For devotees of high-flying feats and aviation in general, the firm is also offering a 1,000-piece limited edition with the same exclusive design. Its black dial (like the original 1983 model) bearing silver-toned counters with red hands is distinguished by the team logo emblazoned at 12 o'clock. Composed of three arrows in the red, white and green colors of the Italian flag, it is topped with the inscription "P.A.N Frecce Tricolori" (P.A.N. standing for Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale). The caseback bears the engraved silhouette of the ten Aermacchi aircraft composing the squad. The ultrasturdy steel case and the bezel with black rubber-incrusted numerals feature satinbrushed tops and polished sides. Water-resistant to the exceptional depth of 500 meters (1,650 ft), the watch houses Manufacture Breitling Caliber 01, a highperformance chronograph movement entirely developed and produced by Breitling, and chronometer-certified by the COSC. It is available with a choice of wristbands notably including a new black rubber strap with embossed Breitling signature. The Frecce Tricolori Chronomat 44 and the limited edition were presented during a special event organized at the patrol's Rivolto airbase in north-east Italy. It was attended by team pilots, a number of Breitling guests, along with members of the military, leading personalities and key representatives of the national press.

Physically tough, visually striking, using the latest in case making technologies, the Shadow is CNC machined and milled in Germany from locally sourced high grade 316L Stainless steel and then finished by hand. The whole watch, including the midcase, bezel, crown, and caseback is then protected by Dievas' 6STEEL hardening process making it up to 6 times the hardness of Stainless steel. Finally it recives a further treatment with a black plasma layer with a hardness of 1800HV, even harder than the 6steel itself! The case measures 45mm x 54mm x 14.5m. It has been fitted with a 60 click-type uni-directional divers bezel, a large Swiss made anti-glare high domed Sapphire crystal and a double O-ring 8mm screw down crown. It has a water resistance 500 metres. Its dial, which uses 4 different shades of black has been drawn in-house by Dievas' young graphics design team. It makes the perfect backdrop for the intensely bright colored hands and markers, which have been applied with custom Swiss SuperLuminova, chosen for its dual capabilites that are highly visible during both day and night. The watch is powered by a high-grade Swiss ETA 2824 adjusted to 5 positions, modified to Dievas specifications and fitted with a custom DLC-treated CNC rotor. By TLex JeanRichard have unveiled a smart new AQUASCOPE model. Available in either a polished stainless steel or black PVD-coated case, the new diver is constructed from a single piece of steel. Its cushion-shaped case measures 44.50mm x 40mm and has a thickness of 11.85 mm. It is water-resistant to 300 meters. The watch is fitted with both an external aluminum bidirectional divers bezel as well as an internal bezel, which is operable via the screw-down crown at 9 o'clock. It is presented on a black natural rubber divers strap. Under the hood is a 21 jewel JR60 Self-winding caliber with a power reserve of 42 hours. I love the contrast of the grey aluminum bezel against the black PVD-coated case, but wonder how well it well hold up over time?

Well perhaps not literally, but what the newly revised (from 2011) RJ Octopus will do that the other watches of the Titanic-DNA collection couldn't do - is combine that same wonderful romantic sense of the deep ocean with an actual divers watch (RJ's very first) that is capable of safely accompanying you into the depths of the ocean and beyond! From RJ The Octopus, named after the ocean giant that became a powerful symbol in Jules Verne’s famous novel Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea, is first and foremost a sports watch but also a genuine diver’s model. CEO Manuel Emch wanted this diver’s watch to be different in terms of both its aesthetic expression and its technical execution. The Octopus features two crowns, one at 9 o’clock to set the watch and a second one at 3 o’clock for the elapsed time controller. It is equipped with an exclusive internal unidirectional rotating sapphire bezel system featuring engraved five-minute graduation. The chapter ring’s markers are enhanced with Superluminova “blue emission“ to ensure maximum visibility under the water. The hands are also luminescent. Every detail of the watch echoes the number eight, a hint to the number of legs of the animal and a lucky number in some cultures. There are eight octagon head screws on the 45mm case as well as on the back of the watch which is stamped by a hand-engraved octopus, symbol of the conquest of great depths successfully undertaken by RJ-Romain Jerome. The two screw-locked crowns are adorned with eight rivets and guarantee a water resistance of 888 feet (270 meters) for each model limited to 888 pieces. Faithful to the Titanic-DNA collection, the notched bezel contains oxidised and stabilised steel from the Titanic – another maritime giant. The dial carries the large X-shaped intersection found on dials in the RJ-Romain Jerome collections, with its carefully satin-brushed traverse struts and paws. For underwater sports devotees, it is, without the colors, the cross of St. Andrew’s flag which indicates the presence of divers practicing. Another detail of this watch full of references, the interior of the black rubber strap features suction cups like the ones found on the arms of an octopus. The Octopus boasts lines that are virile and expressive, in harmony with the RJ-Romain Jerome design codes. The rugged appearance of the Octopus style makes a striking contrast with the meticulous watchmaking care devoted to each detail. Destined to become a future pillar of the brand’s sports collections, the Octopus comes in three different versions: steel, black PVD-coated steel and black PVD-coated steel with red gold.
